Of all the teen dramas out there, One Tree Hill stands out for being a bit over-the-top sometimes. But the rest of the time, the show was about young adults who genuinely cared about each other and were trying their best to grow up. Fans tend to agree on their favorite storylines and feel deeply linked with Brooke, Peyton, Lucas, Nathan, and Haley.

Tackling serious topics in most episodes and always setting important scenes to a beautiful song, One Tree Hill is considered a classic teen drama, and fans are chatting on Reddit about the storylines that meant the most to them.

Brooke Wanted To Adopt Sam

A fan shared in a Reddit thread that they liked when Brooke was taking care of Sam and several viewers agreed.

Brooke and Sam met in season 6 when Sam stole from Brooke's clothing store, and Brooke became very invested in the young girl's life. Sam lived with Brooke for a while and it was sweet watching them become closer, as Brooke saw herself in Sam and felt that they had a lot in common. While Sam grew up in the foster care system and Brooke had a wealthy family, they both felt abandoned by their families and were searching for the love and affection that they missed. It was awful for Brooke when Sam's biological mom was able to take care of her again, but Brooke realized that she could definitely be a parent, which was a big deal for her.

Haley Fought For Her Marriage In Season 3

Another One Tree Hill fan posted on Reddit that they liked watching Nathan and Haley in season 3. They wrote, "Haley trying to get Nathan back and them falling for each other again. Season 3 was the best!"

In season 2, Haley went on tour with Chris Keller, and her marriage to Nathan was totally falling apart. Fans loved watching the third season of the show as she was determined to make things right with Nathan. There are many episodes for Nathan and Haley fans to cherish, as they have such a charming relationship. While they were in different social circles in high school, being together changed their lives.

Haley Lost Her Mom To Cancer

In season 7, Haley learned that her mom had pancreatic cancer and wasn't going to make it, and viewers became very invested in this storyline. While it was heartbreaking for Haley and Quinn to lose their mom, they knew that she wanted them to go after their dreams. This storyline allowed fans to see just how open Haley could be about her emotions, and that while she was always there for other people, she could be vulnerable, too.

Peyton's Pregnancy Storyline

Peyton expecting a baby is another favorite storyline brought up in a Reddit thread by a few viewers.

Fans loved watching Peyton during her time on One Tree Hill, whether weighing the pros and cons of her outfit choices, learning more about her family background, or watching her fall for Jake, Lucas, and Pete Wentz. But out of all of Peyton's love interests, many fans felt that she belonged with Lucas, and it was exciting to learn that she was pregnant in season 6. As was the case with Peyton's entire character arc, this time in her life wasn't easy, and no one was sure if she was going to make it. Viewers cheered when she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Sawyer, and while it was sad to watch the couple leave Tree Hill, it was nice that they got a happy ending.

Peyton Learning Ian Wasn't Her Real Brother

One Tree Hill fan shared on Reddit that they liked the storyline involving Peyton and who she thought was her brother. They wrote that the series explored the "aftermath" and "I liked how they just didn’t brush it under the rug and showed the after effects of being attacked." Another fan agreed that it was an important storyline because "it actually brought Peyton and Brooke back together."

In season 4, on the evening of prom, "Derek" kidnapped Peyton and Brooke. It turned out that he was actually Ian Banks. They were in real danger, but they worked together and saved themselves. This was horrible for Peyton, who just wanted to get to know her family, but she did know that Brooke would always have her back.

The Season 3 Love Triangle

According to a fan's Reddit post, the season 3 love triangle between Brooke/Lucas/Peyton was a favorite, too.

Lucas and Brooke began dating again at the start of season 3, which was a problem since Peyton shared with Brooke that she was totally in love with him. This meant that Peyton and Brooke couldn't be friends for a while, which was painful for fans to watch since they had been so close. By the next season, it was clear that Lucas and Peyton were meant to be, but it would take them a while to fully commit. This is one of the most well-done love triangles on a teen drama as Lucas really cared about both Peyton and Brooke and emotions were always running high.

Lindsey Realized She Couldn't Be With Lucas

A fan loved the season 5 storyline when Lindsey broke up with Lucas. They mentioned that fans who shipped Lucas and Peyton were thrilled about this.

In one of the most dramatic, yet expected, moments in season 5, Lindsey walked away on their wedding day, knowing that what Lucas and Peyton shared was the real deal and that she could never compare. While Lindsey was a talented book editor who never meant any harm, and it was heartbreaking learning about her dad's tragic death, fans didn't root for this relationship.

Peyton Meeting Her Biological Mom, Ellie

A fan shared in a Reddit thread that they enjoyed watching Peyton and Ellie meet because of "Peyton's want for a stable family."

In season 3, Ellie knocked on Peyton's door and introduced herself, but their relationship started off rocky. Peyton wasn't sure if she should trust her since Lucas said that Ellie was purchasing drugs. It turned out that Ellie had breast cancer, and while they were able to work on a CD together, Ellie passed away. While it was good that Peyton got to spend some time with Ellie, it was a painful reminder of how much time they had lost.

Rachel And Brooke Stole A Calculus Test

One Tree Hill fan posted in a Reddit thread that they liked watching Brooke and Rachel connect in season 4 as they worked out a way that they could pass Math.

Rachel and Brooke became closer and seemed to be getting along, and fans were invested when they stole a calculus test. Chase and Haley were disappointed in Brooke, and while she was involved too, she sat back and watched while Rachel got suspended from school. This wasn't Brooke's finest moment, but it allowed fans to see that she wasn't perfect and that she sometimes made the wrong choice because she wanted to be cool and popular.

Nathan Was Accepted Into The NBA

A fan posted on Reddit that they loved when Nathan was accepted into the NBA in season 6.

It was definitely exciting to learn that Nathan was going to play for the Charlotte Bobcats, and it was inspiring to see him go after a lifelong dream and make it happen. Thinking about all the pain that Nathan would be in later, as he watched his wife Haley struggle with depression, realized he could never see his dad again, and got kidnapped in season 9, this season 6 storyline seems even more special.
