Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress Dominique Thorne, the MCU's new Ironheart, confirms she has wrapped on the movie. Currently slated to premiere in November, Wakanda Forever is the highly-anticipated sequel to 2018's blockbuster smash Black Panther. Ryan Coogler returns as director, while the cast is largely filled out by supporting players from the first film like Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett. Sadly, Black Panther 2 will arrive without its leading man Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020.

Plot details for Black Panther 2 are still being kept closely under wraps. There have been numerous fan theories about the various characters and storylines that could be included within the film, but Marvel has been tight-lipped about everything. In terms of the new names that have been added to the MCU, Michaela Coel boarded Black Panther 2 last summer in an undisclosed role. Additionally, Thorne makes her debut as Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, in the film; she will later star in her own Disney+ show, though it isn't yet clear when that will premiere.

As of this weekend, Thorne is celebrating the completion of her first MCU project. The Judas and the Black Messiah actress posted a little video on her Instagram Stories with the the caption "And that is a picture wrap on Riri Williams." According to her post, she's been working on Black Panther 2 since June 21 of last year, making for quite a lengthy run. Thorne also wrote, "God is so Good. See y'all in November." Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has endured a bit of a tumultuous production. It began filming last June, but would suffer several delays over the next few months. In addition to an on-set injury for Wright, there were rumors of controversy over Wright's vaccination status. There was talk of an additional delay for Black Panther 2 in January, but with Thorne's post, it looks like the long journey is coming to an end. Perhaps this will help the movie avoid a release date delay, but that could still be possible.

In the comics, Riri Williams is Tony Stark's successor to the Iron Man position, though she takes on the name Ironheart. Thorne was cast as the MCU's Ironheart in late 2020, and her Disney+ show has recently begun adding additional stars like Anthony Ramos and Lyric Ross. There is a great deal of anticipation surrounding Thorne's arrival in the MCU, and with Black Panther 2 slated for release in just a few months, Marvel could debut some official looks at her in character soon. At the very least, the completion of production signals a new milestone for Black Panther 2, and that is definitely a reason to celebrate.
