Summary

The Host, based on the 2008 novel by Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer, takes place in a post-apocalytpic world where humanity is at war with a parasitic alien race known as "Souls" - beings that take over human bodies, erasing the original people. After a life-threatening altercation leaves her on the brink of death, Melanie "Mel" Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is injected with a soul parasite but instead of joining the fight to erase humanity, the life form (known as Wanderer) elects to aid the human rebellion.
