Summary
Resident Evil 4 is the fifth entry in the Resident Evil franchise, developed and published by the teams at Capcom. Years have passed since the Racoon City incident, and the truth about Umbrella Corporation's involvement with the zombie outbreak has come to light. With Umbrella dismantled, Leon S. Kennedy was enlisted in the United States Secret Service as a personal officer of the President. When the President's daughter is kidnapped while on holiday in Europe, Leon is dispatched to a remote region in Spain to find the missing daughter. However, Leon's experiences in Racoon City will be more critical than he anticipated, as the locals are hostile and indoctrinated into a cult led by the perpetrator of the kidnapping, Osmund Saddler. Saddler, using the power of a unique parasite, Las Plagas, intends to use the President's daughter to control the world. Leon will have to battle through forests, lakes, an ancient castle, and more as he faces a new bio threat the world has never seen. While marking the most significant departure for the series, Resident Evil 4 changed the gameplay to emphasize an active approach while no longer displaying the game from a fixed camera perspective. Instead, players can fully move around in 3D environments with an over-the-shoulder camera perspective where Leon can utilize weapons he finds and buys to face untold horrors. Resident Evil 4 is considered by many critics to be one of the greatest games of all time and is set for a remake due out in March 2023.
