Summary

In the year 2033 the first crew of astronauts launch from Florida and become the first humans to land and set foot on Mars. Not all goes according to plan but this monumental achievement in human science, innovation, and technology represents just the beginning as over the course of the next few years additional ships land to help form the first human colony outside of Earth. Season 2 of Mars brings more new characters and begins nearly a decade after life is discovered on Mars at the end of season 1. A unique mix of real-life present day documentary footage (including interviews with various scientists, and engineers, such as Elon Musk, Andy Weir, Robert Zubrin, and Neil deGrasse Tyson) and future-set science fiction drama help make Mars the most 'science future' series ever produced. Season 2 explores the challenges of funding, maintaining, and growing a settlement on Mars and the inevitable need to privatize travel and mining on the red planet.
