[UPDATE: We have been informed by Disney/Lucasfilm that this Solo artwork is not official.]

-

The first look at Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story may have arrived. Lucasfilm is currently in the middle of Star Wars: The Last Jedi's theatrical run, but they don't have time to spare before promotion begins for the next Star Wars film. Thanks to Solo hitting theaters in May - and not the recently established December trend - the gap between movies is smaller than ever before. Lucasfilm has yet to cross promote Star Wars films, and the close proximity of The Last Jedi and Solo left the latter behind. Nevertheless, The Last Jedi's marketing blitz is now over, and all eyes are turning to Solo.

The movie had a highly publicized production thanks to the firing of original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, only for Ron Howard to take control. He reportedly reshot the majority of the film, which is thought to be one of the factors behind why the marketing for Solo hasn't begun yet. Fans thought the first look at Alden Ehrenreich in the role had been revealed a few weeks back, but it turns out the image was not legit. Now, a Russian merchandising site is the latest source for what could be our first look.

The image in question popped up on Reddit today from Licensing Russia. The potential first look at Solo includes Ehrenreich, Donald Glover (Lando), Emilia Clarke, and Chewbacca. The image comes as part of a promotional pamphlet of sorts that includes a brief description of the the movie too. Unfortunately, it is unclear if this is an official piece of art from Lucasfilm, or something tailor-made by this website. Take the following image with a grain of salt just in case, but this could very well be the first look at the cast in character.

Since this is not yet an official first look at Solo, reactions to the image should be tempered. If it is official, then this is the first look at what should be the film's biggest stars. Ehrenreich looks the part of a young smuggler, and Glover appears to easily recreate the look and feel of Lando that Billy Dee Williams established. They have the most weight on their shoulders as they attempt to play younger versions of beloved Star Wars characters - and while we still don't know how they act in the role, they have the looks down.

In addition, the image includes what might be the first look at Clarke's character, as well as a younger Chewbacca, and the Millennium Falcon. If this is not an official piece of marketing, it is a very convincing image nonetheless. Hopefully, it will not be too long before Lucasfilm confirms this image to be legit, or they release a different image altogether. After all, there is only five months left before the movie hits theaters, so its only a matter of time before the marketing kicks into high gear.
